Kevin E. Paslay Sr., of Roundup, Mont., died Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014. He was 53 years old.

A viewing will be 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 20, at Davis Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 21, at Davis Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Mountain View Cemetery. There will be a "birthday celebration" with a carry-in dinner from 4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. after the service at the Riverton Eagles F.O.E. No. 3036 in Riverton. All family and friends are invited.

Kevin Eugene Paslay Sr. was born Jan. 21, 1960, in Roundup, Mont., the son of Perry Eugene and Edith Faye (Goodwin) Paslay. He graduated as honorary valedictorian from the high school in Roundup, Mont. He moved to Riverton when he was in his early 20s. He then received his CDL from the JETS Truck Driving School.

He worked for numerous oilfield companies, mainly in Wyoming, for 30 years before an oilfield accident left him disabled and unable to work.

He was baptized into the Methodist faith.

His family said he was proud of his country and being an "all-American boy" and oilfield roughneck. He enjoyed playing the guitar and harmonica, writing poetry and music lyrics, working on his vehicles, and collecting cars and trucks. He loved visiting and being around his family, friends, oilfield friends and getting people to laugh. His family said he had a kind heart and was always a giving person. There was a special bond between him and his daughter Sara, and they loved each other deeply. He loved all of his children and was loved by them.

He is survived by his son, Kevin (Purvi) Paslay Jr. of California; daughters Sara Marie Witt of Riverton, Alisha Autumn (Tom) Cartwright of San Diego, Calif., and Mistie Johnson of Buffalo; grandchildren Olivia Grace Cartwright, Bradley Thomas Cartwright and Alexandra Marie Cartwright; brothers Michael Perry Paslay of Roundup, Mont., Terry Mitchell Knight of Denver, and Ricky Ray (Janet) Hess of Minnesota; sisters Karen Paslay Britt of Riverton and Shannon Irene Goheen of Macon, Ga.; nieces Michaela Paslay, Sharanda Farson, Amber Harris and Caitlin Goheen; nephews J.J. Harris, Howie Harris, Koedy Paslay and Michael P. Paslay Jr.; and his dog and longtime buddy, "Snoopy."

He was preceded in death by his parents, Perry and Edith Paslay; brother Jerry Michael Knight; and sister Mary Fay Norris.
