C.A. 'Buck' Buchanan Jr.

C.A. "Buck" Buchanan Jr. died Thursday, Jan. 23, 2014, after a short illness. He was 85 years old.

The funeral will be Friday, Jan. 31, in Uvalde, Texas.

"Buck" Buchanan Jr. was the son of Charlie Aaron Buchanan and Minnie (Caldwell) Buchanan.

His family said he had many jobs in his life, starting when he dropped out of junior high school to help his family. At one time, he helped train horses to race and drilled water wells for the City of Uvalde, Texas.

He joined the Navy during World War II, and then he worked for ConocoPhillips for 31 years.

He was married to Leona Ruth (Jones) Buchanan for 64 years before she died in 2012.

His family said he and his wife loved to travel, camp, hunt and fish. They said he will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his daughter Charlene Owen and her husband Curtis of Riverton; granddaughter Wendy Bruss and her husband John and their children Taylor and Annie of Sheridan; grandson Robert Owen and his wife Keri; great-granddaughter Natalie of Casper; son Carlton Buchanan and his wife Cheryl; granddaughter Caralee and Chana of Ballinger, Texas; son Joe Buchanan and his wife Vicky; grandson Collin; and granddaughter Erin of Springdale, Ark.
