Central Wyoming College has a 531.67-point lead in the women's standings with two rodeos left in the regular season of the Central Rocky Mountain Region.

The Rustlers enter the final month standing in front of the 12-team field at 2,465.00 points.

Northeastern Junior College is second (1,933.33), followed by Gillette College (1,900), Chadron State College (1,733.33) and the University of Wyoming (1,090.).

CWC finishes the rodeo season at Casper College (April 20-22) and at University of Wyoming (April 27-29).

"As long as we keep getting solid points every weekend, then we are going to be in good shape," said CWC veteran cowgirl Traci Hinman. "We need to go out and compete in every rodeo. Chadron State, Northeastern Colorado and Wyoming all look really good."

The top two squads from the region advance to the College National Finals Rodeo in the middle of June at the Casper Events Center.

"We just can't take it easy," Hinman said. "We have to give them everything that we have."

Eastern rodeo

The Rustlers placed third in the Eastern Wyoming College rodeo in Torrington on Saturday.

CWC chalked 360 points in the three-day event. Chadron State ended first (560) and Northeastern Junior College finished second (410). "We had a really good weekend in Eastern," Hinman said. "We keep on getting better and better every weekend."

The Rustlers scored their majority of points in Eastern in goat tying.

"That is pretty impressive to get most of our points from goat tying," Hinman said. "That is pretty tough thing to do."

Jacalyn Walker won the goat tying event (14.6 seconds) and Hinman second (15.2).

"Jacalyn is having a good year," Hinman said. "She has been a big part of the team."

Hinman was sixth in breakaway roping competition (7.6 seconds).

Hinman's two events lifted her to fifth in the women's all-around (155 points). Chadron's Kaylee Gallino won the title (320), and teammate Kelsey Scott finished second (240).
