Feb 11, 2014 - By Craig Blumenshine, Staff WriterAfter falling behind early, the Riverton Lady Wolverines came on strong Friday and gained an important Class 4-A West road win over Green River, 53-40.
The Lady Wolverines fell Saturday to the Evanston Lady Red Devils 43-34.
The weekend split leaves Riverton with an 8-10 overall record and a 2-3 Class 4-A West conference record.
Riverton will host Rock Springs in a single game this week Friday at Wolverine Gym.
On Saturday, Camey Fegler led Riverton with 9 points, Savannah Salisbury and Maci Evans both added 8.
Evanston's Hailey O'Neil led all scorers with 13.
"We didn't shoot well Saturday. We dug ourselves a hole early, but I thought the effort was there. We were impatient and didn't establish anything down low," RHS head coach Ron Porter said.
Evanston contained Riverton's front line of Kiley Ridgway and Jensyn Pettit to just six points combined.
Individual statistics from Friday's game at Green River were not made available.
"We have to be a little more resilient when things are not going well. I like what we are doing, and our chances are good. If we work hard in practice, our chances are as good as anybody's. We've got a lot of basketball left," Porter said.
