Rustlers host alumni match

Apr 12, 2012 - By Bruce Tippets, Sports Editor

Darby Thomas, Lisa Hall and Troi Larsen played volleyball for Central Wyoming College six years ago for coach Tiffany Stauffenberg. All three will be back in Riverton for an alumni match on Friday night.

Stauffenberg has assembled a group of 10 players to play against the current CWC squad at Rustler Gym. The game is set to start at 6:30 p.m.

Larsen now is the volleyball coach for Wind River High School.

The match will be played best two out of three to 25. The game is free to the public.

"It's always good to get those former players back on campus," Stauffenberg said. "I have been in touch with all of them, but it will be nice to get them all together. It should be a fun atmosphere."

Returners

Former CWC players Brooke Tolman and Brittney Keele finished their senior seasons playing volleyball at Montana-State Billings. Keele graduated from Riverton High School before she played for CWC.

Tolman was an all-region volleyball player for the Rustlers. Tolman played basketball for the Rustlers for coach Serol Stauffenberg.

Chaisley Gill, Kristina Cornia, Courtnie Trustem, Courtney Thoren and Siarra Nicholas will be on the alumni squad.

Thoren and Nicholas were Class 3-A all-state volleyball players for Lander Valley High School.

CWC roster

"Our freshmen have been in the gym a lot playing spring volleyball," Stauffenberg said.

The Rustlers finished the fall season placing second in the Region IX tournament.

"We are going to get a good practice in on Thursday with everybody," Stauffenberg said.

In the Region IX title match, Western Wyoming swept CWC 25-17, 25-16, 25-24.

Stauffenberg was named the coach the year in the region.
