Feb 13, 2014 - From staff reportsDevon Energy announced it has again been named to Fortune magazine's list of the 100 Best Companies to Work For. This marks Devon's seventh straight year to be included on Fortune's prestigious list.
"We have always believed the strength of our company originates with the people who work here," said Bill Skelton, Devon's production superintendent.
Devon's rank on the Fortune list was based in part on a random, anonymous survey of employees conducted by the Great Place to Work Institute. The survey found that employees find Devon to be a safe and healthy place to work with strong leadership and trust among employees, a sharp focus on performance, a good work/life balance and strong commitment to community involvement.
The Fortune list is the leading measure of workplace culture in the United States. Companies on the list generally attract a higher number of qualified job applicants, experience lower turnover rates and consistently outperform major stock indices, according to the Great Place to Work Institute.
Devon's inclusion on the Best Companies list, this year at No. 56, further distinguishes the company among potential employees.
As Devon develops emerging oil and natural gas plays and focuses on increasing production, the company is hiring experienced engineers and geologists to tackle new challenges and manage these areas.
