Feb 17, 2014 - StaffViola Marie "Cherokee" Johnson died Sunday, Feb. 16, 2014, at home. She was 82 years old.
Cremation has taken place, and there will be no services.
Viola Johnson was born Nov. 13, 1931, in Franklin, Okla., the daughter of Franklin John and Mable Grace (Hole) Kinikin.
She graduated from Riverton High School.
On July 2, 1950, she married Jerry W. Johnson in Riverton.
She worked as a cook and as a bus driver in Fremont County.
Her family said she enjoyed sewing, playing video games, crocheting and doing puzzles.
She is survived by her children, Michael Lee Johnson and Cara Ann Johnson of Riverton; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband; daughter Sharon Johnson; son Danny Johnson; granddaughter Jessica Shepard; and grandson-in-law David Remero.
