Feb 19, 2014 - StaffNancy Sue Shippen Gallagher died after a long illness Monday, Feb. 17, 2014, in Casper. She was 61 years old.
Cremation has taken place, and a memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 21, at Davis Funeral Home in Riverton.
Nancy Sue Shippen was born Oct. 15, 1952, in Casper, the daughter of Ernest and Jennie Lue Shippen.
She lived in Wyoming for most of her life, but she also lived for some time in California in her earlier years.
Her family said that all who knew and loved her knew her as the ultimate free spirit. One of her favorite sayings was, "Love many, trust few, always paddle your own canoe." She will be missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by her daughter, Tara McFarland; siblings and their families Kathleen Wilson, Joe Shippen, Roscoe Shippen, Adrian Shippen, Maria Wilder-Doyle, Bill Shippen, Carolyn Nelson, Deanna Martinez, Yolanda Pearson, Rick Martinez and Michael Martinez; and mother Jennie Martinez.
She was preceded in death by her father, Ernie Shippen, her nephew Roscoe Shippen Jr., and her beloved dog, Zabu.
