Feb 25, 2014 - StaffEdythe Margaret McFarland died Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2014, in Denver. She was 95 years old.
Cremation has taken place, and there will be no services. Her ashes will rest in the Ragged Mountains of Colorado.
Edythe Margaret McFarland was born Feb. 15, 1919, in Somerset, Colo., the daughter of Tony Bear and Virginia Marta Bear. She was married to Harry Frank McFarland.
Her family said she lived her life with humility and kindness, and she was a constant world traveler, devoted mother, innkeeper, environmentalist and nurturer. They said she will be deeply missed and was respected by many. She was a remarkable woman in a class of her own.
She is survived by her children, Alan Schumacher, Harry McFarland, Nela Lewis, Nanette Meredith of Riverton, Anita McFarland, Myles McFarland and Denice McFarland-Block; 14 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Carol Breen, and siblings James Bear, Charles Bear and William Bear.
