Nancy (Judy) Viola Miller Cole, of Arapahoe, died Monday, Feb. 24, 2014, at her daughter's home surrounded by family members. She was 79 years old.
Memorial services will take be at 3 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 27, at Davis Funeral Home in Riverton. Her final wishes were to be cremated and buried in Miller Cemetery.
Nancy Viola Snyder was born Jan. 14, 1935, in Fort Washakie, the daughter of Ben and Nancy Viola (Long) Snyder of Fort Washakie.
She was one of seven children, and the family lived in a cabin on North Fork Road in Fort Washakie.
On April 1, 1950, she married Lawrence Warren Miller. They lived in Burgess for seven years before establishing their ranch and raising their family at Big Wind in Arapahoe. Together they raised five children.
She was a long-time rancher with her husband and her children. She also worked as a teacher's aide at Arapahoe Elementary School and was actively involved in running her cattle operation on the Miller Ranch.
In 1991 she married Vernon Cole. The couple were avid Harley riders, and they loved watching movies and caring for their dogs.
Her family said she enjoyed gardening and canning, and she was an artist at heart who enjoyed creating numerous arts and crafts and showing them in the county fair.
She is survived by her husband Vern Cole; sisters Ada Marie Breedlove and Kathryn Rose Lone Fight; uncle Finn Snyder; cousin Geraldine Wright; children Benjamin Ronald (Anna) Miller, Robert James (Shasta) Miller, Marilyn Monroe (William Kohler) and Carolyn Rose Miller Longwalker, all of Arapahoe; stepchildren Sue and Ben Cole; grandchildren Nancy Mae (Cory) Caldwell, Maggie Marie Miller, Benjamin Miller (Andrea Scribner), Kasia Monroe, Starr Miller, Shiela Rose Miller, Cheryl Cournoyer, Teri Lynn Miller (Lawrence Bell), Nora Lynn Yellowbear, Bobbi Jean Talks Different, April Grace Spang, Dawn Michele Gambler (Kevin Jenkins), Jerel Kohler, Krystal Dove Miller, Tova Pearl Miller, Bluestone Jenkins and Kimberly Moss; 32 great-grandchildren; and numerous family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Lawrence Warren Miller in 1989; parents Ben and Nancy Snyder; brothers Ben Snyder Sr., Sam Snyder, Roy J. Snyder and Ronald Snyder; son Buddy Jay Miller; and grandchildren Thomas Monroe, Dakota RedCloud, Cali Rose Wahtomy and Jamie Viola Miller.
