Feb 26, 2014 - By Craig Blumenshine, Staff Writer

The Riverton Wolverine boys basketball team jumped out to an early lead and easily defeated the Green River Wolves 59-34 Tuesday evening at Wolverine Gym. It was Green River's 21st consecutive loss.

Riverton (4-5 Class 4-A West, 11-11 overall) will end its regular season at home Saturday against Evanston at home. The game is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m., although with games in the Class 2-A regional tournament scheduled earlier in the day, tipoff could be later.

Prior to Tuesday's game, seniors Eion Meyers, Caleb Ogg, Triston Ortiz, and Austin Patterson were recognized.

"We really didn't play all that well, and that is to be expected with the emotions of senior day," Riverton head coach Dick Quayle said.

Junior Brandon Fullerton led all scorers with 19 points, and Austin Patterson also scored in double figures with 12. Dylan Rust led Green River (0-21, 0-9 Class 4-A West) with 17.

Casper Kelly Walsh (8-1 4-A West) and Casper Natrona (7-2) have the top two seeds and automatic state tournament berths locked up in the Class 4-A West, and Green River will be the sixth seed. Riverton (4-5), Evanston (4-4) and Rock Springs (3-5) are battling for seeds 3-5.

Evanston will face Rock Springs Friday before coming to Riverton.

The Class 4-A West regional tournament will start next week.
