WGFD invites public input on season-setting

Mar 10, 2014 - From staff reports

The Wyoming Game and Fish Department invites the public to its upcoming open houses in communities statewide.

Officials will be available to hear the public's thoughts, ideas and questions regarding the 2014 hunting season proposals (big game, small game, game birds, waterfowl and wild bison).

The meetings will be at 6 p.m. at the following locations:

- March 25 at the Headwaters Arts and Conference Center, 20 Stalnaker St., Dubois;

- March 26 at the Jeffrey City fire hall;

- March 27 at the Riverton fire academy;

- March 31 at the Wyoming Game and Fish Department, 260 Buena Vista Drive, Lander.

To accommodate those who cannot attend a meeting in-person, WGFD will post presentations, harvest surveys, online commenting forms and other related information at http://wgfd.wyo.gov/web2011/wgfd-1001683.aspx.

Draft regulations do not necessarily include final quotas or season-ending dates. WGFD often adjusts draft regulations based on the health, age and sex of animals within herds; winter severity; population numbers; habitat conditions; harvest survey information and public input.

Draft proposals and presentations will be available at http://wgfd.wyo.gov/web2011/wgfd-1001683.aspx and regional offices after March 20.
