Mar 10, 2014 - From staff reportsJules Massenet's "Werther" will be shown at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Carnegie Room at the Fremont County Library in Lander.
The romantic opera was composed in the late 19th century and is a welcome change from the chaos of the previous Metropolitan Opera production, "Prince Igor."
Massenet took his story from Goethe's "Sorrows of Young Werther" which was written at the onset of the German Romanticism.
The production stars the French soprano Sophie Koch as well as acclaimed tenor Jonas Kaufman.
