Mar 11, 2014 - StaffJames "Cherri" Cherrington, of Riverton, died Friday, March 7, 2014, at Riverton Memorial Hospital. He was 62 years old.
A memorial service and ride will be in June at the Wind River Canyon.
James John Cherrington was born July 3, 1951, in Denver, the son of Charles and Dolores (Adams) Cherrington.
He grew up in Denver and graduated from North High School in 1969. He was drafted into the U.S. Navy and served in the Vietnam War. After being honorably discharged, he returned to Denver.
In 1993 he moved to Riverton and worked for Nucor as a mechanic. He worked as a mechanic for more than 30 years.
His family said he was outgoing and caring, and he would do anything for those who did things right. He also enjoyed motorcycles and guns, especially his 1998 Harley FXR Wide Glide 95th Anniversary Edition.
He is survived by his mother, Delores Phelan, of Denver; sons Matthew (Christy Webber) Cherrington of Denver and Tom Cherrington of Denver; grandchildren Peyton, Adrianna and Adi, all of Denver; brothers Dave (Renae) Cherrington of Denver, Charlie (Korrie) Cherrington of Denver and John Strohecker of Riverton; and sister Gloria (Greg) Hebel of Denver.
He was preceded in death by his stepdad, Thomas Phelan.
Memorials may be made to the Disabled American Veterans in care of Davis Funeral Home, 2203 W. Main St., Riverton, WY 82501.
