Mar 12, 2014 - From staff reportsThe Wyoming Cowgirl basketball team held off a late comeback from Boise State in the second half to pull out a five-point win, 61-56, to open up the 2014 Reese's MW Championships on Tuesday afternoon.
The Cowgirls now move onto the semifinals on Friday, March 14, against the Colorado State Rams. The game is set for 1 p.m. Mountain Time.
"I think the game is what the Mountain West is about," said head coach Joe Legerski. "Two teams giving everything that they have out there. You knew it was going to come down to maybe the last possession. Sure enough, we're up 10 with three minutes to go. We have to make a stop defensively. You have to give Boise State credit.
"They came at us in the last three minutes to create either a lay in or a three point shot. That was something we were trying to take away. I thought that was a big part of our game plan."
