Mar 18, 2014 - From staff reportsThe University of Wyoming Cowgirls basketball team was left out of the postseason for the second time in three years on Monday.
Wyoming, despite its 20-11 record, was not selected for either the 64-team Women's National Invitational Tournament or the 16-team Women's Basketball Invitational following the completion of the NCAA women's tournament field being announced.
This year marks only the fourth time since coach Joe Legerski took over the program in 2003 that the Cowgirls won't be competing in the postseason. The story was reported by the Wyoming Tribune Eagle News. Part of the issue on Wyoming not being invited to any postseason tournament stemmed from how the team finished the season. The Cowgirls lost four of its final five games, including Friday's triple-overtime heartbreaker to Colorado State in the semifinals of the Mountain West Tournament.
