Dubois man dies in two-vehicle crash
Apr 4, 2014 - From staff reports
Shane Grove, 24, of Dubois died Tuesday at the scene of a two-vehicle accident in Carbon County.
The Wyoming Highway Patrol states Grove was the driver of a 2001 Ford F-150 pickup truck that was headed east at about 5 p.m. Tuesday on Wyoming Highway 230 about four miles east of Riverside.
Julie A. Davis of Saratoga reportedly was driving a 2013 Toyota 4Runner in the same area. Reports state she was making a left turn onto County Road 201 from Wyoming Highway 230 eastbound when Grove "came up behind her at a very high rate of speed and tried to pass her on the left."
Grove's vehicle reportedly struck the rear of Davis's vehicle then continued down the road eastbound, where it lost its passenger side front tire, "went sideways" and rolled and slid along the roadway on the driver's side. Grove's vehicle reportedly rolled one more time, possibly going airborne. During the rollover, Grove, who was not wearing his seatbelt, reportedly was ejected from the cab of the pickup.
Troopers covering this crash are investigating alcohol use by Grove as a contributing factor in this crash.
Davis' vehicle sustained damage from the rear to the driver's door. She was wearing her seatbelt.
