Apr 9, 2014 - From staff reportsNorthern Arapaho tribal member Matthew Lawrence Antelope, 29, is in custody for allegedly assaulting Ashley Yellowbear with a knife Jan. 28 on the Wind River Indian Reservation.
Antelope was charged March 20 with assault with a dangerous weapon with intent to do bodily harm, according to Christopher A. Crofts, U.S. Attorney for the District of Wyoming. Antelope faces a potential 10-year prison term and could be ordered to pay a fine of up to $250,000 as well as restitution and a special assessment.
His initial appearance was March 26 in Lander, and he was arraigned April 1. A detention hearing also was held April 1 in Lander. Antelope reportedly pleaded not guilty and was detained. His jury trial is set for June 2 in Casper before U.S. District Court Judge Scott. W. Skavdahl.
