Honor Farm land development runs risk of repeating experience of city's downtown lot

Apr 9, 2014 - Jerry Humphreys, Riverton

I would like to know from the City of Riverton if there have been some stores or house builders who have said they want to build on the land by the Honor Farm that the city is trying to sell for development? Do we have reason to believe this land will be built on and developed like they say?

I think most people probably would be more in favor of it if they knew it was going toward something specific as opposed to just hoping to attract a store or an apartment building.

All we have to do is look at downtown Riverton and the corner lot the city bought and demolished the building on it. There has been a lot of wishful thinking there that hasn't amounted to anything yet, at least a couple of years later. It is a dirt parking lot.

I wonder if we are just going to do it all over again with this Honor Farm land but on a much bigger piece of property.
