Wind River Hotel and Casino receives customer service award

The Wind River Hotel and Casino was named the Customer Service Organization of the Year during the Rare and Exceptional Achievements for Customer service in Hospitality Awards ceremony.

On Feb. 25, the hotel was honored at the Fourth Annual REACH Awards luncheon in Cheyenne, which recognizes Wyoming businesses for their customer service and hospitality efforts.

"We wanted to give special recognition to those individuals and organizations that go above and beyond the call of duty to make visitors feel like they are one-of-a-kind and who represent the great state of Wyoming as being welcoming and friendly," said Shannon Stanfill, visitor service senior manager at the Wyoming Office of Tourism.

According to Jordan Dresser, the public relations spokesman for the Wind River Hotel and Casino, this is the first time the business has received the award since it opened in 2008.

"Receiving (the award) is a big deal to us," Dresser said, noting the award is a reflection of the hotel's employees. "It has to start with each employee providing customer service and being the best person they can be."

According to the REACH Awards press release, the Customer Service Organization of the Year is awarded to places in the hospitality and tourism industry demonstrating exceptional contributions to creating customer service within the organization.

"The Wind River Hotel and Casino believes in rooting customer service education to every employee from day one and reinforce that training on a constant basis," the release stated.

The business employs more than 700 workers who Dresser said make customer service their No. 1 priority.

"Customer service is the cornerstone to any good business," he said, noting the employees do their best to make sure customers are comfortable and are having a good time. "It's a great honor."

Other winners of the REACH Awards include: Darlene Matz of the Casper Area Convention and Visitors Bureau, Customer Service Employee of the Year; Kevin Skates of Hot Springs State Park, Industry Partner of the Year; and National Bighorn Sheep Interpretive Denter, Destination/ Attraction of the Year.
