Apr 14, 2014 - By Craig Blumenshine, Staff WriterThe Riverton Lady Wolverines soccer team split its weekend matches, going 2-2 at a tournament Friday and Saturday in Worland.
On Friday, Riverton opened with a 2-1 loss to Powell in a game head coach Tanya Santee felt her team had opportunities to win. Later, Riverton bounced back with a 3-2 win over Star Valley, which had defeated Powell 4-1 in pool play.
With tournament tie-breaking procedures in place, the Wolverines were placed in the gold bracket Saturday, losing to Green River 4-0 and defeating Jackson in their final match 2-0 to claim third place in the 12-team tournament.
During the weekend, Savannah Salisbury and Rachel Grahem each scored two goals, and teammates Morgan Doyle and Natalie Lymburner each scored a goal.
Lady Wolverine defender Camey Fegler was selected to the all-tournament team.
"I do feel better about our play. We still let Green River get goals that were our mental mistakes, but I'm glad we want to improve. We had a good team effort today," Santee said.
The Lady Wolverines host Gillette at 5 p.m. Thursday at Wolverine Field.
