Former State Rep. McOmie running for Lander mayor; held job 1975-87

Apr 16, 2014 - From staff reports

Former Lander mayor and State Rep. Del McOmie is running for mayor again, 27 years after he last held the job.

McOmie announced Wednesday that he will run to replace Mick Wolfe, who is retiring as mayor of the Fremont County seat after three terms.

The 78-year-old McOmie served three terms as mayor himself from 1975 through 1987, then represented Wyoming House District 54 for eight two-year terms from 1999 through 2013.

No other candidates have announced for the post.

McOmie served in the Legislature as a Republican, but the mayoral election is non-partisan. The primary election is Aug. 19, with the general election to follow on Nov. 4.
