Apr 17, 2014 - By Bruce Tippets, Sports EditorKaylee Burnett won two individual events Sunday for the Central Wyoming College Rustlers rodeo team on her way to the women's all-around title at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colo.
Burnett placed in the top spot in barrel racing in a two-ride time of 30.47 seconds. It was the third straight spring season victory for Burnett.
She capped off the weekend by winning the goat tying in 13.1 seconds.
In the women's all-around chase, the CWC cowgirl scored 340 points in the three-day rodeo.
Sheridan's Jayne Lauweryseen finished second at 140 points.
The two victories from Burnett put her team second in the women's team standings with 340 points.
Chadron State finished first at 350 points. Gillette College came in third (270 points).
In the men's standings, CWC was 10th (90 points).
After eight Central Rocky Mountain regional rodeos, Burnett has moved into the third-place spot in barrel racing.
She has scored 700 points in the regular season.
The top three in each event qualify for the College National Finals Rodeo in June at the Casper Events Center.
Gillette's Kristi Steffes is first with 735 points, and teammate Tally Roepke is second (715 points). Chadron's Amy Deichert is fourth with 450 points.
Burnett has climbed into the sixth spot in goat tying at 275 points.
Chadron State cowgirl Shaylee Hance sits first (825). Hance was at CWC last season before moving on to Chadron.
The Rustlers have two rodeos left on the schedule before the regular season ends.
CWC participates in the Casper College rodeo on April 25-27. The final rodeo of the regular season is May 2-4 at the University of Wyoming.
