Poetry Reading is 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. April 22 in the library at Wind River Tribal College, 533 Plunket, Ethete. Event will feature the Arapaho and Shoshone languages, music, history, poetry and more. Theron Spoonhunter will be the master of ceremonies, and the event will include an open mic. The night is part of the One County/Many Voices series. Event is free and open to the public.

WEDNESDAY

Bike and Safety Rodeo, sponsored by Injury Prevention Resources, is April 21 to April 25 at Gannett Peak Elementary School, 863 Sweetwater St., Lander. The primary purpose of the Safety Rodeos is to teach children and their parents what they can do to reduce the risk of injury.

Leaving a Legacy Workshop is 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the Senior Citizen Center, 209 Main St., Shoshoni. Wyoming Poet Laureate Echo Klaproth will lead the workshop. The event is part of the One County/Many Voices series. It is free and open to the public.

Veterans Assistance is 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Riverton VA Clinic, 2300 Rose Lane.

Second Annual Cowboy Poetry is 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Shoshoni Public Library, 216 Idaho St. Poets in attendance include Kent Stockton, Pete Cameron, Wyoming Poet Laureate Echo Klaproth, Rick Pitt, Garland Kennington, Karl Brauneis and Amanda Francis. THURSDAY

Wind River Internet Expansion Celebration is 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Wind River Internet, 98 Gas Hills Road, Riverton. The company is celebrating new towers in Riverton and Fort Washakie. Event will include door prizes, free hamburgers and service discounts.

Earth Day Film Series is at 7 p.m. at the Lander Library, 451 N. Second St., Lander. "The Good Fight: The Martin Litton Story" chronicles the efforts of one of the leading conservationists of modern times who continues to be active today into his 90s. Litton has worn many hats: senior editor of Sunset magazine, board member of the Sierra Club and founder of and guide for Grand Canyon Dories (the first company to run wooden dories through the Grand Canyon).

Night Reading is 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the Little Theater at Central Wyoming College, 2660 Peck Ave., Riverton. Community members and students and staff from the college are invited to participate. An open mic will follow the readings. Refreshments will be available. The night is part of the One County/Many Voices series. Event is free and open to the public.

Emergency calls

In Riverton Police Department reports Thursday through Tuesday morning:

- Kym Fasthorse, 20, of Ethete, was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear and for minor in possession of alcohol at about 8 p.m. Thursday in the 400 block of College View Drive.

- Paul Bell, 52, of St. Stephen's, was arrested for public intoxication at about 8:30 p.m. Thursday in the 800 block of South Federal Boulevard.

- Tyrone Wood, 22, of Riverton, was arrested for driving under the influence and careless driving at about 1:45 a.m. Friday in the 700 block of West Pershing Avenue.

- Chester Moss, 34, of St. Stephen's, was arrested for public intoxication at about 2:20 p.m. Friday in the 500 block of South Third Street East.

- Teressa SunRhodes, 24, of Arapahoe, was arrested for probation revocation at about 2:40 p.m. Friday in the 300 block of East Park Avenue.

- Joseph Twiss, 39, of Riverton, was arrested for open container and public intoxication at about 5 p.m. Friday in the 800 block of East Main Street.

- A 33-year-old Fort Washakie woman was issued a citation for shoplifting at about 5:30 p.m. Friday in the 1700 block of North Federal Boulevard.

- Sandra Edwards, 52, of Riverton, was arrested for public intoxication at about 11:45 p.m. Friday in the 300 block of East Madison Avenue.

- A 25-year-old Riverton man and a 29-year-old Riverton woman both were issued citations for child endangering at about 10:10 a.m. Saturday in the 100 block of North Sixth Street West.

- James Pulver, 25, of Riverton, was arrested for violation of a protection order and for contempt of court at about 11 a.m. Saturday in the Riverton area.

- Rupert Brown, 36, of Arapahoe, was arrested for public intoxication at about 3 p.m. Saturday in the 500 block of North Broadway Avenue.

- A 23-year-old Arapahoe woman and a 27-year-old Riverton woman both were issued citations for shoplifting at about 5:45 p.m. Saturday in the 1200 block of West Main Street.

- Reuben Behan, 28, of Riverton, was arrested on a warrant for contempt of court at about 8:15 p.m. Saturday in the 1800 block of East Roosevelt Avenue.

- A 19-year-old Arapahoe man was issued a citation for minor under the influence of alcohol at about 1:10 a.m. Sunday in the 800 block of East Main Street.

- Benjamin Piper, 48, of Arapahoe, was arrested for public intoxication at about 9:30 p.m. Sunday in the 600 block of Freedom Drive.

- Dominic Arthur, 45, of Arapahoe, was arrested on a warrant for contempt of court at about 7:45 p.m. Monday in the 1000 block of East Monroe Avenue.

- Amber Luna Rojas, 32, of Rock Springs, was arrested for probation revocation and public intoxication early Tuesday.

- Katrina Regan, 33, of Riverton, was arrested on a warrant for contempt of court early Tuesday.

- Reva SunRhodes, 50, of Riverton, was arrested for public intoxication early Tuesday.

In Fremont County Sheriff's Office reports Thursday to Tuesday morning:

- An adult man was cited for possession of marijuana at about 4:50 p.m. Thursday in the 300 block of South First Street in Dubois. Officials said he was released from custody.

- Orlando Torres, 27, of Ethete, was arrested on a Fremont County warrant for failure to appear and on a warrant out of Crook County at about 8:30 am. Friday in the 800 block of South Federal Boulevard in Riverton.

- A Riverton man called police at about 8:40 a.m. Friday to say that another Riverton man had attempted to "slit his throat" while the two were together several days ago along the banks of the Wind River. Officials were unable to substantiate the allegation, but the case remains under investigation.

- A resident called police at about 12:30 p.m. Friday to report that his home on David's Way northwest of Riverton had been struck by a bullet. In initial reports he said he had just seen a bullet "go through the window," and it reportedly struck a candle near his television. The first arriving deputy reportedly found three men target practicing in the area with a .308 caliber rifle. The men took responsibility for the stray round, according to reports, and they spoke with the homeowner, who was satisfied with their apology. No further action was taken, as the reporting party did not wish to pursue charges or involve law enforcement further.

- Corwin Redtomahawk, 18, of Riverton, was arrested on Fremont County warrants for contempt of court and failure to appear at about 4:10 p.m. Friday in the 100 block of Norkok Street in Fort Washakie.

- An anonymous subject called police at about 9:15 p.m. Friday to report that an unknown intruder had brandished a knife in a home in the 1500 block of East Monroe Avenue. The male suspect reportedly fled the scene by the time officials arrived, and he was not located. However, through further investigation, deputies were able to identify a possible suspect, and officials are confident the situation will be resolved "very soon." Witnesses said they were decorating Easter eggs when the man barged into the home saying he was going to "slit everyone." The men in the residence said they were able to coax the man outside; he reportedly pulled a fixed-blade knife and attempted to attack one of the men several times before fleeing the area. No injuries were reported.

- Aaron Miracle, 40, of Lander, was arrested for probation violation, no interlock device and no valid driver's license for motorcycle at about 9:30 p.m. Friday in the 100 block of Hough Street in Dubois.

- Clayton Barrett, 31, of Riverton, was arrested on a Fremont County warrant for failure to appear at about 6 p.m. Sunday in the 200 block of East Jefferson Avenue in Riverton.

- Mary Addison, 51, of Arapahoe, was arrested on a Fremont County warrant for failure to appear at about 3:45 p.m. Monday in the 100 block of Norkok Street in Fort Washakie.

During this timeframe the Fremont County Emergency Dispatch Center took 250 calls for service including three involving a motor vehicle accident. County ambulances were dispatched 57 times, and area fire departments responded to 16 calls for help. Twenty-eight people were booked into the Fremont County Detention Center for charges including one for driving under the influence, 11 other alcohol-related charges, two felony charges and 39 misdemeanor charges. The center currently is responsible for 156 inmates including 143 at the facility, eight in substance abuse treatment programs, one on home detention and four elsewhere.
