Rustler cowgirl Kaylee Burnett leads the all-around cowgirl standings.
Behind the performance from Kaylee Burnett, the Central Wyoming College Rustlers women's rodeo team has vaulted into third place in the region.
With two rodeos left in the spring season, CWC has chalked up 1,045 points in the Central Rocky Mountain Regional standings.
Gillette College is the regional women's leader with 2,585 points. Chadron State is in the runner-up slot at 2,455 points.
The top two teams qualify for the College National Finals Rodeo in June in Casper.
CWC participates Friday through Sunday in a rodeo at Casper College.
The regular season wraps up in Laramie on May 2-4.
Burnett has been the difference maker for the Rustlers in the spring season, winning three straight barrel racing titles to move herself into the No. 1 spot in the race for the women's all-around buckle.
"Kaylee is riding a good horse," CWC coach Drew Schrock said. "She doesn't need to change anything."
Burnett has scored 975 points. Gillette's Taylor Engesser from Gillette College is second (705 points).
In barrel racing, Burnett is in a three-way battle for the title with two Gillette cowgirls.
"Kaylee has a lot of confidence right now," Schrock said. "We are looking forward to having a good weekend."
Burnett has put up 700 points. Gillette's Kristi Steffes is first at 735 points and Tally Roepke sits second (715).
The top three in each event qualify for the CNFR.
In goat tying, Burnett sits sixth with 275 points, and teammate Shana Lyons is 10th (220).
Hill in battle
CWC's Coltin Hill is in the mix for a steer wrestling regional title with Casper's Riley Krassin.
Hill is second at 450 points, while Krassin is first (580 points).
"Steer wrestling is always tight," Schrock said.
Tylor Bond from Northeastern Junior College has the third spot (390 points).
