Apr 28, 2014 - From staff reportsThe Lander boys nearly pitched a shutout on the soccer weekend with a road sweep over Douglas and Torrington.
Friday in Goshen County, the Tigers blew past the Trail Blazers 6-1 in 3-A Southeast Conference action to move to 8-2 on the season.
Saturday's effort at Douglas was even more impressive with Lander blowing out the Bearcats 7-0 behind three goals from Kyle Leemon.
Those three goals put Leemon above 20 goals on the season. He is the scoring leader in all of Class 3-A.
Lander scored the first of seven on a throw-in from Drew Gramlich to Leemon 20 minutes into the game.
Nate Linton picked up an assist off a corner that set up Leemon's second score 11 minutes later.
Leemon's final goal came at the 49 minute mark off a pass from Nesto Lowham that set Leemon one on one with the Douglas goal keeper.
Tiger freshman Daniel Lobera a pair of goals with Daniel Bolding and Gramlich each adding a single score.
Eli Lowham paced Lander in assists with three.
The Tigers put their 9-2 record on the line at home this weekend with a Friday match against Powell and a Saturday contest against Cody.
