Apr 30, 2014 - From staff reportsWhen Dr. Cristobal Valdez takes the helm as president of Central Wyoming College on July 1, he will be seventh person to hold the title.
The college hired Walter Palmberg as its inaugural president in 1966. He was succeeded by Dr. William W. Day and then by Dr. William St. Pierre.
Dr. Robert Barringer served several months in an interim capacity as president as well, with Dr. Ed Donovan preceding Dr. Jo Anne McFarland in the college presidency.
McFarland took office in 1989, and her tenure exceeded that of her five predecessors combined.
Valdez was introduced Tuesday as the next president during a special meeting of the Central Wyoming College Board of Trustees.
The college marks its 50th anniversary in 2016.
