May 2, 2014 - StaffProfessional boxing returns to Riverton with a seven-fight card Friday, May 2, at the Riverton Eagles Hall at the intersection of North Broadway and East Fremont avenues in downtown Riverton.
The first bout is at 7 p.m.
Headlining the card is Cesar Holguin, the former Riverton resident who has built a 9-3 record as a pro fighter. He'll tangle with Richard Flores of Scottsbluff, Neb., in the feature bout. Holguin now fights as a welterweight (147 pounds). He is a 1994 Riverton High School graduate.
Other fights Friday feature Billy martin vs. Matt McOmie, Austin Bayless vs. Keith Sack, Thumpers vs. Anthony Ork, Justin Wrede vs. Howie Harris, and Taylor Harris vs. an opponent to be introduced at ringside. Corey Williams is the fight promoter. He hopes Friday's event can rekindle interest in boxing and help with the formation of a boxing club here.
