May 19, 2014 - By Alejandra Silva, Staff WriterFremont County School District 25 has received more than 50 suggested names for the new K-3 elementary school building planned to open by the summer of 2016 at 1200 W. Monroe Ave. in Riverton.
The district has been soliciting names from community members and students. The deadline to submit an idea is this Tuesday, May 20.
District 25 Superintendent Terry Snyder said a group of adults will review all names submitted and bring the list down to three names.
Before the last day of school, K-3 students will select the name of the new school.
"We have good choices, some kind of interesting choices," Snyder said. "Really, a lot of good options."
Andrea Verosky, the current Aspen Park Elementary School principal chosen to be the principal for the new school, is leading that process, Snyder said.
The mascot for the new school also will be chosen by the students who will attend the new school.
Design planning continues for the school, with the architects, engineers, and school staff. Snyder said the process continues to incorporate invaluable staff input and make some changes to the design.
He said Sandstrom Architecture will soon present a three-dimensional design plan for the community and staff.
