May 20, 2014 - Stacey Peranteaux, RivertonEditor:
l would like to publicly thank Riverton High School, the community, and especially our volunteer host families for welcoming foreign exchange students to Riverton. As the school year draws to a close and they prepare to return to their home countries of Germany, Switzerland, Thailand, Norway and Italy, they do so with a new appreciation for American culture and lifestyle.
Foreign exchange students that spend their year abroad in Wyoming consistently rate their experience as extremely rewarding and rank among the happiest exchange students in the U.S.
I believe that is due to the people in our community. We are open to cultures and to sharing ours, we have immense natural beauty and offer a truly unique American lifestyle. Our high school is so welcoming, the staff encourages our exchange students to experience all the sports, clubs and extracurricular activities we have to offer.
As one student recently told me, "every day in Wyoming has been an amazing experience that l will remember forever."
l am so proud to live here and so proud of what we have given these students. As they continue their journey into adulthood, their experience of living in America will undoubtedly shape their futures.
A special thank you to the Gard, Reining, Johnson, Holcolm, Phister, Hancock, Gopp, Malcolm and Romer families for being amazing American parents to our students.
I am currently looking for host families for this fall. Please contact me if you would like to learn more about our program.
