May 29, 2014 - By Bruce Tippets, Sports EditorThe Riverton Raiders dive into the meat of their American Legion baseball schedule with their home opener Friday night vs. the Lovell Bulldogs.
The first pitch of the doubleheader is thrown at 5 p.m.
Riverton is 1-4 on the season after winning its first game of the year over Rawlins but struggling after that.
The Raiders have lost to Green River, Torrington, the Casper Drillers and Laramie.
Riverton is expecting 15 to 16 players to be dressed for the Friday night doubleheader.
After the Lovell game, Riverton faces Rawlins in a home doubleheader on Saturday, beginning at noon.
Riverton hosts the Roy Peck tournament Saturday and Sunday, June 7-8.
The Raiders also are fielding a B team this year to let the younger players gain experience.
The B team has a 1-1 record.
Riverton lost to Cody 13-9 a couple of weeks ago. The Raiders won the second game 8-7.
