Jun 6, 2014 - By Bruce Tippets, Sports EditorRiverton U.S. Energy fastpitch softball manager Mark Stone has assembled his roster with players from four different Wyoming towns for the 2014 season.
Riverton, Lander, Casper and Rock Springs are represented on the team.
Riverton is competing this weekend at the USSSA Wyoming/Colorado tournament in Cheyenne.
"The tournament should be a really good one for us," Stone said.
The U.S. Energy team participates in its home tournament June 13-15 at Martha Honeycutt field.
Riverton also has tournaments in Rapid City, S.D., Heber City, Utah, and Tooele, Utah on the schedule.
Riverton is the host team for the state tournament July 10-13.
The schedule wraps up with the national tournament at the end of the season in Gillette.
The U.S. Energy team has been having early morning practices to work on fastpitch fundamentals.
"We are expecting some good things from the team this year," Stone said.
Assistant coaches for Stone are Jerry Love and Steve Earnest.
The four Riverton girls on the roster are
Katelyn Jennings, Sierra Hernandez, Andrea Roseno and Kendell Krumland.
Jennings and Hernandez both play second base, shortstop and in the outfield.
Jennings also is in the pitching rotation for Stone.
Roseno plays both first base and pitcher.
Krumland is a catcher and a utility player.
Allyson Sollars, Ronny Webster, Adrienne Mathews are from Lander.
Sollars is a catcher, while Webster and Mathews play in the outfield.
McKinley Earnest, Caroline DeWitt, and Jordan Love live in Casper.
Love is one of the top throwers for Stone.
Rock Springs players are Randy Miller, Shanice Webb, Kaycee Stevenson, and Payton Sweet.
Riverton is playing in the Rock Springs competitive league, for players ages 16-21,every Wednesday night.
U.S. Energy has an undefeated mark in the league.
"The league is good for us because we get to play against older players," Stone said.
Stone has created a Riverton under-14 traveling team this year.
The team is slated to play in three different tournaments.
"The goal is to develop players for the older team, and also give younger girls a chance to play very competitive softball," Stone said.
