Jun 9, 2014 - From staff reportsFremont Physical and Sports Therapy and Go Fremont County! will host the first Go Fremont County! Parade Day 5k, Cycle or Swim on July 26.
The organizers hope to continue an annual tradition of celebrating healthy lifestyles and community involvement. The day also will kick off one of Riverton's most important events: the Fremont County Fair.
The event will begin with a competitive or recreational 5k run/walk, a 25-mile bike ride and a 606-meter swim. The event also will include a "Ride of Fame" on a float in the Fremont County Fair Parade.
While each of the traditional triathlon events is featured, the organizers elected to make this a fun, low-key and recreational competition. Participants of all ages and abilities are welcome to participate. Participants can choose their favorite event or form a team to compete in all three events for best times.
The events will run simultaneously with a shotgun start at 7 a.m. in front of Fremont Therapy Group's Riverton clinic.
This is a volunteer-run event focusing on bringing the community together for a fun, physical challenge. The organizers welcome participation by area businesses and individuals.
This year the group has elected to distribute all proceeds to two important causes: the Steve James Family Health Fund and the Darcie Zimmer Memorial Walkway reconstruction effort.
