'Voice of the Cowboys' signs on through 2019

LARAMIE - The familiar voice that Wyoming Cowboy fans have grown accustomed to hearing for more than three decades will stay in his current role through 2019, as announced Friday.

The contract extension for Dave Walsh is inclusive of radio play by play for Cowboys' football and basketball, as well as both coaches' shows and the Wyoming Sports Today daily show. He will again be joined by color analyst Kevin McKinney, who has served more than 40 years with the University of Wyoming and is senior associate athletics director for external Operations.

"We are extremely happy to have Dave continue in his role as 'Voice of the Cowboys'," said Wyoming Athletics Director Tom Burman. "For a generation of fans, Dave has been the voice that has described the great moments in Wyoming Athletics history.From the great Cowboy football and basketball teams of the 1980s up to today, Dave'sradio calls have brought the action to life for Wyoming fans no matter where they were listening. He is truly one of the best play-by-play men in college sports, and we feel very fortunate to have him continue being the voice of our program into the future."

Walsh, a nine-time Wyoming Sportscaster of the Year as selected by his peers of the National Association of Sportswriters and Sportscasters, is a native of San Diego, Calif.

He received his degree in radio and television in 1975 from San Diego State and served as sports director for KVOC Radio in Casper prior to joining the Cowboys in 1984.
