Second day of Roy Peck tournament washed out

A downpour in Riverton on Saturday night and into Sunday morning canceled the second day of the annual Roy Peck Wood Bat baseball tournament.

The Riverton Raiders went 0-2 on Saturday preliminary tournament play.

Riverton fell to Douglas 7-4 and to Rock Springs 8-3.

The Rock Springs game was the nightcap in the first day. The Raiders are 5-6 on the American Legion season.

Green River knocked off Douglas 10-7 and Rock Springs 3-2.

Green River finished with a 2-0 record for the best mark in the tournament and was declared the winner of the tournament.

Rock Springs 8, Riverton 3

Rock Springs produced a 3-1 lead after the first inning of play.

After two scoreless innings, Rock Springs added three more runs in the fourth.

Riverton managed one in the bottom of the same inning.

Rock Springs clinched the win with two runs in the top of the fifth.

Rock Springs outhit the Raiders 15-9.

Riverton's Ryan Axthelm pitched five innings. Brayden Draper went the final two.

Andrew Von Rein had three hits for the Raiders.

Conference games

The Raiders continue their homestand Tuesday night vs. Rock Springs in a doubleheader.

The two games are the Southwest conference openers for both Rock Springs and Riverton.

Rock Springs is 8-7 overall.

Green River stands at 1-1 in the same league and 11-9 overall.

Evanston is 1-1 in conference with a 8-8 record overall.
