Athletes help civic organizations recruit volunteers

Twenty-two runners and walkers helped five local civic organizations recruit volunteers May 17 during the second annual Good Samaritan Run, Walk and Drive hosted by the United Presbyterian Church of Riverton. Monica Kuhnley won the adult division and Trysta Stingley won the youth division.

The main feature was a community volunteer drive in which civic organizations set up displays to showcase their activities and answer questions from people interested in becoming volunteers. The event also included a cake walk, chili feed and a one-mile run. The entry fee for the event consisted of an item to donate to one of the civic organizations such as a box of diapers or baby formula for Abba House or cans of food for the Christian Food Store or the Riverton Community Food Bank.
