Ranger's 59th annual Mining and Energy Edition to be published on WednesdayJun 17, 2014 Staff
The Ranger publishes its 59th annual Mining and Energy Edition on Wednesday.
Produced annually to coincide with the summer convention of the Wyoming Mining Association, the special edition is expected to contain 62 pages, making it the largest single edition of The Ranger again this year.
The edition began in 1956 as part of Riverton's 50th anniversary observances as a municipality. That's also the year the Wyoming Mining Association was founded, with the late Bob and Roy Peck, the newspaper's founders, instrumental in establishing the WMA as uranium mining boomed in Fremont County.
Ranger staff members travel extensively each year in reporting news and feature stories from Wyoming's energy industry. In many years, the Mining and Energy Edition has been the largest single newspaper published in Wyoming. Production of the edition takes several weeks.
An expanded publication is planned for next year's 60th anniversary of the edition and the WMA.
