Jun 17, 2014 - From staff reportsRegistration is under way for the Boysen State Park Youth Fishing Derby scheduled for July 12 and held in conjunction with the Boysen Lake Marina, Shoshoni Recreation District and Lip Rippers.
This event is part State Parks' Wyoming Kids eXtreme program designed to connect children with the outdoors.
Participants 13 years old and younger can obtain a registration form from Boysen State Park at 876-2796, the Shoshoni Recreation District at 876-2663, Boysen Lake Marina at 876-2772 or Lip Rippers at 876-2345. Pre-registration is required.
The day use fee is waived for all entrants.
Entrants can get a free fishing pole at Lip Rippers or Boysen Lake Marina on July 12. The event begins at the reservoir at 8 a.m. Prizes will be awarded at the Boysen Lake Marina at 5 p.m. Free food and drinks also will be provided.
Sponsors of the event include North Platte Walleye Unlimited, Canyon Taxidermy, Clarks Meat House, CR Construction, Devon Energy, Lucky Five, Encana B&K Shoreline, Pepsi, Wyoming Game and Fish Department, Shoshoni Chamber of Commerce and Hi-Energy.
