Story on power rates 'didn't make sense'Feb 9, 2012 - By William Griles, Riverton Editor: The story about how Wyoming has the lowest electric utility rates in the nation on average doesn't make sense to me. I know at my place the cost of electricity is much higher than the "average" figure being used by the power company in that story. As far as I know I don't have anything out of the ordinary on my property that would make the rate I pay so much more than the one they say the average person pays. I don't know how they come up with this figure, but I suppose they can find some customers who have very, very low electric rates because they heat with gas and have lots of windows, or who never turn on many lights. I also notice that the figures are from two years ago. I bet that wouldn't be true now. |
