Eleven candidates showing interest in late Schiffer's seat

Jul 3, 2014 - The Associated Press

SHERIDAN -- Eleven people from Sheridan and Johnson counties have stepped forward to fill the Wyoming Senate seat vacated by the late Sen. John Schiffer.

Schiffer was a Republican from Kaycee. He died June 19.

Three of the candidates are from Sheridan County and the other eight are from Johnson County. A selection committee made up of Republican Party precinct committee members from both counties will narrow the list of candidates to three finalists.

The county commissions of both counties have scheduled a joint meeting Monday to decide who will fill the vacant seat.

The person chosen will complete Schiffer's term, which continues through 2016.
