McAdams newest member of Eastern Shoshone Business Council

Jul 21, 2014 - By Eric Blom, Staff Writer

Jodie McAdams won a special election for a seat July 1 on the Eastern Shoshone Business Council. She was the only candidate running for the position vacated when Wes Martel resigned.

McAdams is now the only woman on the five-person board. Her term runs until Nov. 3 when she would be able to run again.

Also up for re-election this fall are business council members Mike Lajeunesse and Clint Wagon.

A primary election will be Nov. 4, according to business council receptionist Alissa Noseep.

Vacated seat

Martel's resignation came just months after he was reinstated to the business council.

On April 5, the Eastern Shoshone General Council voted to remove Martel, fellow business council member Ivan Posey and tribal attorney general Kimberly Varilek. A May 15 meeting of the general council, however, reinstated all three officials.

Election judges did not return requests for information regarding vote totals, and neither McAdams nor Martel could be reached for comment.
