Person of interest sought in child abduction case
Jul 22, 2014 - By Katie Roenigk, Staff Writer
Police are looking for a person of interest in connection with a child abduction reported early Saturday in Riverton.
Reports state a 9-year-old girl was taken from her bedroom at about 3:40 a.m. Saturday in the 800 block of Cindy Circle.
"The parents heard a scream," Riverton Police Department Capt. Eric Murphy said, describing the initial call to police. "They went into the bedroom (and) saw that her screen on her window had been cut, and she was not in her bed."
Police found the girl walking nearby along Mary Anne Drive about 40 minutes later. She told them that an older man wearing a black shirt, blue jeans and blue shoes took her from her residence.
Murphy would not discuss any injuries she may have suffered, but he said she was examined by an ambulance crew and then taken to SageWest Health Care at Riverton by her parents.
Person of interest
At about 7:30 p.m. Sunday, detectives executed a search warrant on a home in the 900 block of East Jackson Avenue and questioned three people living there.
They all were released after questioning.
A fourth resident wasn't home at the time: David Brock, 22, of Riverton. He is wanted for questioning related to the child abduction case, and anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to call Murphy at 856-4891.
"He's still in the area," Murphy said. "We're just in the process of trying to track him down."
Brock is not a registered sex offender, Murphy said, though he does have an arrest record.
"We're just asking that he come in and talk to us," Murphy said. "Clearly that's not an option for him at this point."
Murphy would not discuss the information that led detectives to search Brock's house.
"We're still working the case," Murphy said. "But we really need him to come in and talk to us."
