Jul 25, 2014 - StaffEvelyn R. Gimple, of Lander, died Tuesday, July 22, 2014, at Westward Heights Care Center in Lander. She was 98 years old.
Cremation will take place, and graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 29, at Mount Hope Cemetery.
Evelyn R. Gimple was born in 1916 on a farm near Hasting, Neb., the daughter of Edward Burger and Margaret Wangler.
In 1930, she married Edward Gimple, and they had two children: Roland and Dorette. Her husband died in 1978.
She moved to Lander in 1992 to be near her son, and then she went to work for the foster grandparents program at South Side School. Her family said she loved working with children and as of 2009 she had worked at South Side School for 16 years.
She is survived by her son, Rolly, and his wife Nancy of Lander; seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and son-in-law Jim of California.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother Albert; and daughter Dorette.
Memorials may be made to Westward Heights Care Center.
