Aug 18, 2014 - From staff reportsSt. Stephen's High School students had a summer assignment in 1997, and it also was the first local photography assignment for longtime newspaper photographer Wayne Nicholls, who retired Friday after 17 years of shooting pictures for The Ranger, Lander Journal and Wind River News.
The St. Stephen's student helped repair a deteriorating foot bridge across the Riverton Valley Irrigation District Canal along Riverview Road. Jessica Round, left, and Theresa C'Hair chose a pressure-treated board for the bridge, while classmate Mike Willow waited to grab the next one.
This picture was the first shot by Nicholls for local publication. He shot about 20,000 more before his final day on Friday, Aug. 15.
