Aug 19, 2014 - StaffCharlotte Waterman died Sunday, Aug. 17, 2014, at Wyoming Medical Center in Casper. She was 74 years old.
Traditional Indian funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 21, at Rocky Mountain Hall with Arlen Shoyo officiating. An evening service and wake will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 20, at Rocky Mountain Hall. Interment will be in the Chief Washakie Cemetery.
Charlotte Waterman was born Jan. 22, 1940, in Fort Washakie, the daughter of the late Sherman and Hazel Hereford.
She was a lifelong resident of the Wind River Indian Reservation. She attended school at Fort Washakie.
Her family said she enjoyed reading, camping, sewing, powwows, sundances and being around her family and grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Roxanne Wright, Sherman Hereford Jr., Verlin, Vernon and Jake Rooks, Don Dushapin Jr. and RV Hereford and their families; brothers Robert "Bob" Hereford and Willis "Dukie" Hereford; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by daughter, Hazel Rooks; sisters Joanne Nowlin, Louise Thompson, Emma Jean Bell and Elabie and Marcella Hereford; brothers
Victor, Jackie, Seewright and Stanley Hereford; and nieces Patty Lou and Jacqueline Raye Hereford.
