Feb 9, 2012 - StaffFuneral services for Cody J. Lamebear, of Fort Washakie, are at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 10, at Blue Sky Hall at Ethete. Episcopal clergy will officiate.
Interment follows at the Friday Family Cemetery on the Wind River Reservation.
A prayer service and wake is at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, at Blue Sky Hall.
Mr. Lamebear, 25, died Friday, Feb. 3, 2012, in Lakewood, Colo.
Cody Jacob Lamebear was born July 9, 1986, in Lander the son of Charles Lamebear Jr. and Cora A. (Dodge) Lamebear. He was a member of the Northern Arapaho Tribe and the Northern Cheyenne Tribe. His Indian name was "Buffalo Walks."
He grew up in Ethete and was a 2004 graduate of Wyoming Indian High School. He had lived most of his life on the Wind River Reservation.
Mr. Lamebear was a student living in Denver going to emergency trauma classes and preparing to be an EMT.
He was baptized in the Episcopalian faith and had attended the Catholic Church with his grandparents.
His family said he enjoyed listening to music, especially pow-wow music, watching movies, especially comedies, spending time with his family, helping friends take care of their children, traveling with his grandparents and being around people.
Survivors include his parents, Charles Lamebear Jr. and Cora A. Lamebear; grandfather Albert Dodge Sr.; brothers Cory Matthew Lamebear, Hawk Whiteplume and Darwyn Dodge; sisters Cora Merle Lamebear, Brittany Augustine, Kristy M. Dodge and Katarina Dodge; aunts Rose Dodge, Winnie Dodge, Huberta Dodge, Linda Armour, Mary Lamebear, June Lamebear and Emma Lamebear; uncles Clifford Lamebear, Albert Dodge Jr., Bill Whiteplume, Bill Addison, George Groesbeck and Kerwin MedicineBird; the extended families of Friday, Trosper, Sage, Moss, Quiver, Felter, Lamebear and LittleThunder.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Charles Lamebear Sr. and Merle Lamebear; grandmother Estelle (Friday) Dodge; aunts Lynelle Groesbeck Addison, Kristi Marie Dodge and Mary Dodge Wolfrang; cousins Daisy June Felter, Sasha Ridgley, Elizabeth Dodge and Marcus Dodge.
