Feb 9, 2012 - StaffFormer Lander resident Leon L. Poitras, 79, died Sunday, Jan. 15, 2012, at his home in Canyon Country, Calif., following a long illness.
Funeral services were Saturday, Jan. 28, at St. Clare Church in Canyon Country, Calif.
Leon Louis Poitras was born Nov. 5, 1932, in Antigo, Wis.
He graduated from Fremont County Vocational High School in Lander with the Class of 1950 and earned his degree as a mechanical engineer from the University of Wyoming.
Mr. Poitras served with the U.S. Navy and retired from Lockheed Martin Aircraft.
He had been a resident of Canyon Country, Calif., for 46 years.
Mr. Poitras is survived by his wife, Barbara Poitras; sons Paul and wife Laurie, Mark and wife Taya, Eric and wife Marcella, and Robert and wife Kari; 11 grandchildren, Jillian, Matthew, Jena, A.J., Elise, Danielle, Madison, Connor, Lauren, Ryan and Drew.
He was preceded in death by his father, Leon Poitras; mother Loraine Bissel and sister Carolee Redden.
