Feb 10, 2012 - By Christina George Staff WriterEmergency and law enforcement personnel responded to a one-vehicle rollover Friday near Shoshoni.
"It was a one-vehicle rollover just west of Shoshoni before the causeway," said Fremont County Coroner Ed McAuslan.
"There was one occupant, the driver, who was pronounced dead at the scene."
McAuslan said he has not released the victim's identification pending notification of family. He did confirm the driver was a male in his mid-40s and possibly not a resident of Fremont County.
"He died from trauma from the crash," McAuslan said.
Sheriff's Capt. Ryan Lee said dispatch received a call at 8:42 a.m. concerning the crash, which occurred between the Boysen Reservoir causeway and Shoshoni near milepost 124 on Highway 789.
Witnesses reported the rollover caused significant delays in traffic movement, with the line of vehicles to the southwest stretching for miles across the reservoir causeway nearly back to the B&K Shoreline turnoff, and a similar line almost reaching the Shoshoni town limits to the northeast.
"We dispatched deputies, the fire department, an ambulance and the coroner's office" to the scene, Lee said.
The Wyoming Highway Patrol is investigating the fatal wreck. Phone calls made to the agency were not returned by press time.
