Billy O'Neal, 79, died Sunday, May 13, 2012, at the family ranch at Crowheart following a lengthy battle with cancer.
Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 17, at the Big Wind Community Center at Crowheart with Harrison Shoyo Jr. and Arlen Shoyo officiating. Interment will be in the Burris-Lenore Cemetery at Burris.
William "Billy" O'Neal Jr. was born Oct. 27, 1932, in Fort Washakie the son of William Francis O'Neal and Emma Washakie.
Mr. O'Neal was a lifelong resident of the Crowheart area. He attended area schools and Fremont County Vocational High School in Lander.
His family said Mr. O'Neal enjoyed ranching and the cowboy way of life, enjoyed competing at rodeos, being on horseback and riding through his cattle, was a member of many rodeo associations, including the Wyoming Rodeo Association, and competed at the Indian national finals as a team roping contestant.
He is survived by daughters Monie O'Neal and Laurie Alexander of Crowheart; sons Bill O'Neal of Lander and Will O'Neal of Crowheart; sister Jeri LeBeau; grandchildren Emmi O'Neal and Jay Givens, Britt O'Neal, Myndy Reidder, Roxy, Cheyene, Ty, and Troy O'Neal, and Tangle Shavinick; numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Leseberg O'Neal; grandson Zane O'Neal; sisters Linda Holcum and Juanita Weed; brother Calvin "Rocky" O'Neal; grandparents Josie and George Washakie and Emma Deshaw.
Services are provided by Wind Dancer Funeral Home of Fort Washakie.
