May 20, 2012 - StaffReaders provided more information about drive-in movie theaters in Fremont County following last week's photograph of the Knight Drive-In undergoing expansion in Riverton.
Of particular interest were the recollections of Elaine Baumann and her neighbour, who remembered the Westside Drive-In that operated for a few years just outside Shoshoni, near the Poison Creek area.
Theater entrepreneur Tom Knight of Riverton is remembered to have had a hand in the Shoshoni operation as well. Neighbors recall Harold and Mayme Brown as the owners, with Mayme and other relatives of Tom Knight's working at the theater.
The Westside opened and closed with in a period of a few years in the 1960s and was torn down shortly thereafter.
This picture is not of the Westside but instead another view of the Knight Drive-In in Riverton as winch trucks arrived preparing to raise two new screen sections that nearly doubled the projection area of the in May 1955.
